Insights Museum In Need Of Funding

El Paso's most visited museum is asking the community to help it survive. The Insights Museum is in danger of closing its doors for good, if it does not get a source of funding soon.Curators have worked out a plan with the city of El Paso to get additional funding, with the help of borderland residents. The museum has already raised about 100,000.Harry Cole with Insights Museum said, "For the next $150,000 that we raise, every dollar that we raise is going to be matched by the city in a special grant program, which we have worked out with them."If you'd like to help save Insights Museum by making a donation, you can call the office manager with your credit card in hand. The number is 534-0000.

Most visited museum in El Paso, huh? So thats counting the field trips from area schools as well as what the 5 people that go to any museum in el paso? Ok schools love that place because you show up and let the kids run wild. As opposed to the history, art, and border patrol museums. The history museum is also on the edge of town making not a good midday adventure for the schools. The border patrol museum is located at the base of transmountain again making it hard to get to for the average school (and its really small and boring). The art museum is right across from the insights and i guess for not being the most visited museum it is doing well. I am not bashing insights. Well ok i am, but just a little. That is a half assed museum. Most of the "exhibits" there have been there for over 10 years. They feature a table of blocks, a giant bubble blower and um well other crap like that. Also to top it off the last time i was there the place was empty and there were 10 "employees" just wandering around. That place was fun when i was a kid but without a serious update to it there should be no wonder as to why it is on its last legs.
