My Video Games List For 2007

I play video games way too much. I have lost at least 3 girlfriends due (partially) to my video games. Notice that I lost girlfriends but I never lost my love for video games. Here is the list of games i played in 07 that stuck out in my head

Halo 3
This game was a disappointment to me. It played just like part 2 and looked a lot like part 2 (this is HD?). I guess my dislike for this game also comes from the horrible things that went on when i rented this game. So I rent this game and i play it for a few minuets and i start to form my opinion then I left somewhere before i really got into the game. When i got back home i was closing my car door when someone yelled a few yard behind me. I turned to see what was going on and while my attention was away my door (which i was in the middle of closing when i heard the scream) slammed shut on my left thumb. Yeah it hurt bad, it didnt break but it hurt. So plant myself in front of my xbox ready to play through the pain like a true video game champ. So I start playing and every movement is driving me crazy with pain shooting up my left arm, but i play through (cause i am a idiot). So i get pretty far and i start to like the game then my 360 just shoots back to the dashboard (main 360 menu for those of you that did not know). So that angers me but its ok i can just start over from the last save. Then it did it again, and again. Finally on the 500th time that i try and get past level 2 (level 2!!!! i didnt get to play shit!!) my xbox gives me the circle of death. I had to send it off and was without it for about a month. I have never rented Halo 3 again. Thats all i have to say about that.

Super Mario Galaxy
This game is one of those games that could have gone either way. There were many places for Nintendo to fall on its face when making this game. To be honest I had already written this game off as bad based on the videos that were being leaked of it. The videos showed Mario running around on really tiny planets and then jumping to other ones. I guess where most people would say "Wow thats cool, this game looks fun!". I was saying "Wow that looks like a small area to run around, wow there are lots of ways for them to screw this up, i bet the controls are going to be shite." Well I was wrong. I was sooooooo wrong! This is now my favorite all time Mario game!! It is easy to get the hang of but not easy to beat.

Wii Sports
With all the games that have come out for the Wii you wouldnt think that the "free" game that came with the system would become one of the most played on the system, but that is what has happened. While this game has its downfalls, the game overall is too fun to notice them. I am not a big fan of the Golf and Boxing games. Baseball is decent but not great. My favs are Bowling and Tennis. There are training levels to help you get better at each of the sports. There is one for Bowling where the number of pins keeps getting larger and larger. Its fun to knock down pins especially when there is 200 of them.

Crackdown
I bought this game the day it came out. There was extra hype for this game because of the Halo 3 demo key that came with it. I lost my internet connection just before the launch of the demo so i never played it. This game looked like a cartoony version of GTA so I bought it. For the most part it was a GTA type game except you could leap over huge buildings, punch people and make them fly hundreds of feet, etc, etc. Real superman shit. The main drawback for this game is the fact that you cannot harm innocent civilians. Ok cool i get it, i am supposed to be a cop so dont harm innocent people. Sounds simple. However the innocent people heavily outnumber the enemies. I cant blow up a car without killing at least 10 civilians. I mean i get what they were aiming for but this isnt a real life sim its a video game. I have maxed out all my stats on this game but i cant get past a 1 star rating on my driving because i hit too many people. Very frustrating but fun to run around and jump real high.

Lego Star Wars 2
This game snuck up on me. I bought this when it was turned into a greatest hits. I own the first part for the game boy advance. I must say that Legos in HD look amazing! hahaha its sounds weird but really the graphics for this game are stunning. When you add that to the sheer fun factor of this platformer and then multiply that times the fact that it is a Star Wars game and you have the formula for a winner in my book.

Links Crossbow Training
This game came with the Wii zapper or the Wii zapper came with this. Either way you look at it you get a game and a piece of plastic for 20 bucks. This game is really fun. It reminds me of Hogans Alley for the old NES system. Just a shooting gallery in the land of Hyrule. Totally worth $20.

EA SKATE
Damn Tony Hawk aint shit no more!! I was reigning champ at Tony Hawk (still am) then we discovered this game. My little bro is sick sick sick at this game. He blows me out of the water. I love the soundtrack for this game. They picked some songs that you never expected to hear while playing a skate game. I guess that because the Tony Hawk soundtracks all kinda just got musshed up into one song in my head. The controls are awesome and kinda hard to get used to but not the kind of hard that makes me want to put down the control. It makes me want to keep playing till i land my trick. I havent felt this way about skating since i stopped actually skating years ago. I think i am going to start again.

Spider Man 3
Really now can web swinging ever get old?!? When i rented this game i spent a huge chunk of time swinging from building to building. I love the web swing. oh yeah and the rest of the game was good too hahahahahahaha

Bioshock
I just rented this game last night. The first time i played it i played for 3 hours. Amanda was over at my house so i turned it off to ease her boredom but as soon as she left my 360 was back on and i was searching for another little sister and her big daddy. I went home for lunch today and was tempted to call in sick for the rest of the day. I will write more about it when i get a little further in.

Music That Held My Attention In 2007

I have a very bad memory so bear with me but here is what i remember listening to in 2007:

These are the albums I was listening to this year:
Peter Bjorn & John - Writers Block
This Album blew my mind when I first heard it. It is just a perfectly written well flowing album. Great indie rock with a touch of electronica with a touch of folk all topped with a healthy serving of pop. This was my favorite album throughout 2007.

Tracks of note:
Amsterdam
Up Against The Wall
Lets Call It Off
The Chills

Kenna - Make Sure They See My Face
When Kenna's first album came out everyone i know was listening to it non stop. Shortly after "New Sacred Cows" release everyone i know was burned out on Kenna. I think this guy is a genius though. I never got tired of the first album so when I was at Target and saw this album for under $10 bucks I scooped it without hesitation. Kenna work closely with the Neptunes and you can really hear their influence on this album. Make Sure They See My Face has all the introspectiveness and deep meanings that New Sacred Cow had but it also has a touch of dance sensibility to it. There are some beats on here that are more for shaking your ass then gazing at your shoes.

Tracks Of Note:
Static
Baptized In Blacklight
Loose Wires
Face The Gun/Good Luck
Be Still
Wide Awake

Brand New - God & The Devil Are Raging Inside Me
Oh my god! I really liked Brand New before this album came out. It took a few years for this album to be released but it was well worth it. When their previous album "Deja Entendu" came out i almost wore my copy out. 3 years later they came with "God & The Devil Are Raging Inside Of Me". This is some good emo/indie/punk rock. Pretty depressing (just the way i like my rock)

Tracks of note:
Jesus Christ
Handcuffs
Luca
Degauser

Lily Allen - Alright, Still
I had heard of Lily Allen but i thought she was just some pop product from the other side of the pond. I basically thought she was the UK's version of Brittney or Christina. Then I saw a video on youtube of Terry Hall & Lynval Golding of the Specials doing the Special's song "Gangsters" live with Lily and I thought to myself: "Well if Terry Hall says she is cool then i believe him". So I gave her a listen and I must say that i enjoy her album. It has many influences from dancehall, to ska, to pop, to rock. Its a damn fine album.

Tracks of note:
Smile
Alfie
Friday Night
Take What You Take

UNKLE - War Stories
This has been a big year for UNKLE. Well its been busy for them but a big year for me concerning UNKLE. I had first found UNKLE shortly after the first album came out in 1998. UNKLE has this power to tell amazing stories with their music. For "War Stories" they teamed up heavily with Josh Homme from Queens Of The Stone Age. They also chose to record the album in the United States' Southwest. All these elements gave the album a much more rock feel than the previous albums. To top it all off I was able to see them play at the Vegoose 2007 festival in Las Vegas Nevada. That show was their last US show for their most recent tour and was their first "official" tour as UNKLE. The album is great as always. UNKLE has never let me down, EVER!

Tracks of note:
Chemistry
Hold My Hand
Keys To The Kingdom
Price You Pay
THE WHOLE FUCKING ALBUM!!!

Daft Punk - Alive 2007
DAFT MOTHERFUCKIN PUNK!!!!!!!!! I have always been a fan of Daft Punk for as long as i can remember. They are electro-gods. If , when listening to Daft Punk, you do not get the urge to dance then you better check yourself cause there is something seriously wrong. This album, to be honest, isn't one I have heard yet. What?!?! how can i put it on my list then?!?!? Well its cause I don't have to listen to the album i lived it. This album is a live album that was recorded at their show in france. No I wasn't in france to see them play, though that would have been awesome!!! They were the Day 1 headliner at Vegoose. The set is basically the same the only differences between what i saw and what is on this album are the intro and outros. Basically Daft Punk took this album and tossed and extra intro and outro on it for the Vegoose stop. BTW the Vegoose show that I saw was the last stop of the Alive 07 tour and also the last time Daft Punk used the Pyramid.

Tracks of note:
The whole fucking thing!! The Album is great!!! I LOVE DAFT PUNK!!!!!

The Real "Spider Pig"

Apparently in the Simpson's movie there is a scene with a "Spider Pig" (i still havent seen the move). They used a scene with the spider pig for the trailer and i was reminded of an old comic book that i once saw when i was a kid. It was this:

Yup its Peter Porker himself the spectacular Spider Ham.

Its Always Sunny

Amanda bought me the Season 1&2 box set of It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. This show is hilarious!! I first saw it when FX ran a marathon of it back in season one and I loved it instantly. I cant wait for Season 3 to come out on dvd. Take a look at the promo they were running this season.

Day Man @ The Bar

Day Man @ Charlie's

Achmed The Dead Terrorist

I have this affinity for puppets. I think it is from hours and hours of watching Sesame Street and The Muppets as a kid. To this day if i am flipping through the channels and I see a puppet on tv i will stop and watch. What can i say, puppets make me laugh. Well there is this comedian named Jeff Dunham. He has had a Comedy Central special before so I was familiar with his work but on Saturday while I was at Paul's and we found this on Youtube.

go to www.jeffdunham.com to buy the dvd.

I am not a big fan of the winter. Its too cold, its a good thing i got my new jacket and beanie.

Selections From You Tube

I think this is a hilarious video about a bunch of geeks overrunning a nativity scene.

This is madness! No! This is Smash Bros!!!!!!

I was telling Paul the other day that we should turn the Bomarr Monks into an Atari Teenage Riot tribute band. He said no, i still think its a good idea.

A while ago The White Stripes were the musical guest on Connan O'Brien's show for a week straight. It was pretty good stuff. I like the white stripes. Meg is hot! I dont know what it is about her that i like but i know i like it. Anyway this video was made some time after it and is sort of about it. Plus its a Gondry video so you know it is AWESOME!

ok this is the last one but i really really like this song and i think its one of the best chill songs of all time!!
