If i had done that i would have already had 3 days of game play. There is word that some of the games are freezing after the first cut scene. How much would that suck if it turns out my disc is one of those discs. Rockstar has not released a fix for this bug and do not have a date in which one would be released. Good thing i have Mario Kart Wii to keep me busy.

GRAND THEFT AUTO IV

I cant wait for Grand Theft Auto IV to come out! I ordered the special edition from Best Buy. A picture of it is below. It comes with a Art Book which features some of the stunning artwork from the game which is going to look so amazing on the NextGens. It also comes with a CD with special tracks from the soundtrack that "will not be available anywhere else". I don't believe that since every major GTA game since GTA 3 has had its full soundtrack released in individual CD form as well as a Box Set of the Cd's. With the GTA IV special edition i will also get a special duffel bag with the rockstar R stitched on the side. I will also get a rockstar R key chain. 0n the key chain i will find a key to a safety deposit box with the GTA IV logo embossed on it. I ended up paying about 100 bucks for this package. Which in my mind is a fair deal. The game itself is going to cost 60. Plus i know for a fact i will use the safety deposit box and duffel bag on a regular basis. The game comes out next Tuesday 4/29/08. And no you cant come over to play.

5 months, 2 Xbox 360s, 6 hours of phone time later, I am finally enjoying my xbox360

I purchased an XBOX360 sometime around the end of 2007. I didnt snatch a 360 up at launch for fear of all the first run glitches that every system since the PS2 launch (except for nintendo's systems i have never had a problem with Nintendo's stuff they just cant get their games out when they say they are going to). So i waited a while to pick up a 360. I was at a Best Buy and I saw the Madden 07 XBOX pro bundle so i picked one up. Starting about 2 or 3 months after my purchase my 360 started acting funny. It began freezing, and unable to read discs. Then it happened my green lights on my XBOX turned red. Yes i fell victim to the toshiba dvd drive red ring of death.

So i began the process of sending my XBOX360 in for the repair. I figured this would be a long process that would leave me without my XBOX360 for months. To my surprise less than a month after i sent my 360 off there was a note on my door telling me it was back and was at my apartment's main office. I quickly retrieved my fixed xbox and ran home to start playing again. When i opened the box i was greeted by a letter from XBOX. It informed me that instead of repairing my XBOX they had sent me a replacement XBOX and they would take care of all the paperwork so i would not notice any difference. This was not the case though.

When i hooked everything up i noticed my downloaded content was locked out. I had downloaded all of the first season of the Sarah Silverman Show as well as a ton of other shows and added content for games. None of them were working. So i began what would become a three month relationship with XBOX's customer support. XBOX's customer support is the worst customer support i have ever had to deal with. THE WORST!!! They did not listen to me, they did not understand, and more so i felt as if they did not care at all. I spent several years in the customer service field and if i had the same work ethic as those operators then i would not have lasted a day. I called in and explained my problem and then i would go through the same trouble shooting steps and then get the guarantee that my problem would be solved through these steps. It wasnt (of course), and i would be forced to call in again. I would give them the reference number from my previous phone call and then go through the troubleshooting again and get a totally different reference number. It wasnt until my 3rd or 4th phone call that i reached a supervisor who then said that my issue would have to be passed on to "the higher ups" at microsoft and that it would take 30 days before my problem would be resolved.

Thirty days later there was no fix. So i call in and the spoke with another supervisor that said he could not find any info based on my reference number. The same reference number that i gave to the operator as a way to get straight to a supervisor. So he said he would have to resend the issue up to microsoft and I would have to wait another 30 days. So 30 days later........still nothing! By this time, i admit, i was very very very angry.

I had spent over 600 dollars the first day on the console, an extra controller, and Dead Rising. Then over the course of the next few months i continued to buy games i found on sale or even a few at full price. To this date i feel confident saying i have spent well over $1,500.00 dollars on games, accessories (including a $100 dollar wifi adapter!!!), downloaded content, videos, etc. You know what it could have been up to 2,000 bucks. So i called in and bitched and complained and bitched and even at one point threated to jump on board with the numerous class action suits against microsoft. At the end of the phone call, i was promised the same thing i had been promised several times before. In 30 days all would be fixed.

Yesterday was thirty days after that last phone call. Finally all was well. Everything is working and i can finally play my XBOX360 as it was supposed to be. I am able to play the full version Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 that i paid cash for and downloaded, i am able to watch the tv shows i had paid for and downloaded, i am able to use my downloaded: cars, characters, maps, etc that are game specific. I am also able to use the themes and gamer pics that i had paid for. While it seems like all is well i am still very upset with the service provided by microsoft.

From the faulty drives that they knew were out there and they declined to recall all the way up till yesterday when my licenses were updated and i had to spend my entire Sunday re-downloading all the content i had downloaded previously. This has given me the final push i needed to begin making my life microsoft free. I am not going to go out and throw out my XBOX and my PCs. I am however going to begin looking into buying Apple computers as well as begin the process to change my operating systems over to Linux based OSs. I am also going to slow my game buying for my XBOX360 and begin spending the money i would have spent on it on my WII and save up to finally get my PS3.

I can see people getting upset about the superhero who is the face of the USA resorting to firearms and such but I mean really now people who the fuck are we kidding. The USA is probably the most hated nation in the world (i am not saying its justified or not). Really this is a comic book character and as much as the people of the USA fight for their right to bear arms we now want to strip that right from a fictional face of our nation. Comics are getting grittier, like it or not. The previous Cap had his head blown off!!! Do you think that Bucky is going to step up and not step up 30 times harder than the previous? Besides we were all fine with Cap having a gun and shooting Nazis and Japanese folk.

Then it goes back to parents complaining about their kids reading this shit. NEWS FLASH!!! It is YOUR duty to be parents to YOUR kids. Stop telling me what i can and cannot see because you decided to have a kid. Stop ruining my life because some snot nosed shit machine screwed up yours. Fuck the gun, i am pissed that they gave the Cap such a horrible new outfit. It looks like he had an all black body suit that he was in the middle of unzipping when he had to spring into action and just hasnt gotten around taking off the body suit. This is crap and the stories better be amazing. Bucky better be a bad ass!!

Everyone around the net are complaining about this photo shoot saying its just crap. Saying she is not hot and has no place trying to play the "Sex Kitten" role. I think that is bullshit. Yes she is cute but every female is a woman and a woman needs to explore her sexual side just as much as she needs to explore her "cutesy" side. While I do think she is looking a bit too skinny in some of this shots you cannot deny the fact that she appears to know full well how her body looks and she seems very confident. Both of those factors need to be present in these types of photo shoots in order for the erotic aspect to come to light. I mean remember when Denise Richards posed for playboy just after giving birth? She had a breakdown before the shoot and was crying. When I finally got to see the pictures I felt bad. Like I was looking at something I wasnt supposed to be. Almost as if she was raped by the camera. It really really really creeped me out. I say more power to those women who are comfortable with doing things like this. Especially considering the majority of those people flaming her on the net are more than likely obese and horribly ugly.

Darth Vader & Yoda In Soul Calibur 4

Looks like Namco Bandi are going with exclusive characters for each system again this time around. Word has it that Darth Vader will be on the PS3 version of the game while Yoda will be on the Xbox 360 version. There is no word on who will be or if they are releasing a game for the WII. Will we get Link again for the Wii? Or Mario/Luigi? Maybe they have decided not to bring the game to the wii. I rented a guilty gear game for the wii a few weeks ago and using the wiimote for a fighting game was way too complicated, within seconds i was playing using my classic controller. Well either way only time will tell. Here are some pics.

Woman Loses Track Of Relative After Nursing Home Closes; No Help From APS

EL PASO, Texas -- After an illegal elder foster care home was forced to shut down, one woman said it took two days to track down her relative who used to live there. From the outside, no one would guess how 10 elderly patients were treated in a west El Paso Home. "The smell the stench was so horrible. I mean it would make you throw up," Rosie Pidone said Pidone's uncle was removed from the nursing home that was eventually shut down. She said no one from Adult Protective Services would give her any information, even though she was his legal gaurdian. "I spent all day Sunday and all day yesterday and today calling around an no one knew where his whereabouts," Pidone said. Paul Zimmerman, a spokesman for Adult Protective Services, told KFOX sometimes getting in contact with family members is not always quick or easy. "The first people we try to contact is the family. Unfortunately that information is not always readily available. We do not give out information over the telephone because there is no way to verify who someone says they are over the phone is who they are," he said Pidone said she paid a visit to the office, but still got no answers. "I spent today at Adult Protective Services speaking to people who could give me answers, and nobody told me anything, they just gave me the runaround . One day we are all going to get old. We don't want to be treated like this. Something needs to be done," she said. Adult Protective Services said the person responsible for the care of the patients may be facing criminal neglect charges. Pidone was able to contact her uncle Tuesday. He is in a legitimate nursing home.

OK So Mrs. Pidone is upset because she cant find her uncle. That part is understandable.....sort of. As legal guardian it is her responsibility to ensure he is taken care of responsibly as well as knowing what is going on in his life. I feel she failed on both counts and is pawning off the blame on APS. So APS shuts down the shit hole this "loving nieece" placed him in. If the place was bad enough that it needed to be shut down then how could she put him in those horrible conditions? Lets play devil's advocate and assume that when she initially visited the facility (assuming she did) everything was on the up and up. A place cant spiral completely down the shitter in a matter of a day. Assuming she took time out of her day to visit him even occasionally she would have had to have gotten a sense that things were bad. Also this "home" was illegally run. Did she bother to check their credentials before she dumped her loved one there? So APS shuts down the facility and now she cant find her family member. Where was she before? Did the "home" not have a contact card for her? I understand how frustrating it must have been to not be able to find the man but obviously she didnt care too much about him before now. What was it time to cash one of his checks? She says she spent days calling around trying to find him. Calling?!?!?! GET THE FUCK UP OFF YOUR ASS AND GO DOWN TO THE APS OFFICE!!!! GO TO THE POLICE!!! She cared so much that she bothered to lift her finger to dial a phone. So much love there. APS shut down a "home" that needed to be shut down. So now her uncle was lost in the system. But really the poor man has been lost from his "family" since the sent him away. If APS hadn't have shut down this place and the poor guy died then they would get shit for that too. This lady needs to shut her fucking mouth and quit playing the victim. The only victim here are the countless elderly that become nothing but a memory not often remembered by their family and merely a number to the government.

Warner Bros. is giving away a free* (that word is always followed by a * we should just add that to the word in the dictionary) ring tone of the ringer from "ONE MISSED CALL". One Missed Call is the new horror/suspense flick from WB. The basic plot is you get a call with this special ringer and it only rings once then leaves a message and the message is an audio recording of your death, then you die. The movie poster for this film creeps me out. It is a persons face with screaming mouths for eyes, really creepy. Well yeah you can get that ringer for free* by texting DIE to 94444. I tried doing this with my Cricket phone and i never got a response. Oh well some one try it and then send it to me. I really want this ring tone!!!

Dead men don't cash checks

NEW YORK (AP) -- Two men wheeled a dead man through the streets in an office chair to a check-cashing store and tried to cash his Social Security check before being arrested on fraud charges, police said.

David J. Dalaia and James O'Hare pushed Virgilio Cintron's body from the Manhattan apartment that O'Hare and Cintron shared to Pay-O-Matic, about a block away, spokesman Paul Browne said witnesses told police.

"The witnesses saw the two pushing the chair with Cintron flopping from side to side and the two individuals propping him up and keeping him from flopping from side to side," Browne said.

The men left Cintron's body outside the store, went inside and tried to cash his $355 check, Browne said. The store's clerk, who knew Cintron, asked the men where he was, and O'Hare told the clerk they would go and get him, Browne said.

A police detective who was having lunch at a restaurant next to the check-cashing store noticed a crowd forming around Cintron's body, and "it's immediately apparent to him that Cintron is dead," Browne said.

Most visited museum in El Paso, huh? So thats counting the field trips from area schools as well as what the 5 people that go to any museum in el paso? Ok schools love that place because you show up and let the kids run wild. As opposed to the history, art, and border patrol museums. The history museum is also on the edge of town making not a good midday adventure for the schools. The border patrol museum is located at the base of transmountain again making it hard to get to for the average school (and its really small and boring). The art museum is right across from the insights and i guess for not being the most visited museum it is doing well. I am not bashing insights. Well ok i am, but just a little. That is a half assed museum. Most of the "exhibits" there have been there for over 10 years. They feature a table of blocks, a giant bubble blower and um well other crap like that. Also to top it off the last time i was there the place was empty and there were 10 "employees" just wandering around. That place was fun when i was a kid but without a serious update to it there should be no wonder as to why it is on its last legs.

Suspects Arrested Minutes After Robbery

EL PASO, Texas -- Minutes after an armed robbery happened, police arrested the suspects.El Paso County sheriff's deputies were called out to the 7-Eleven in the 12000 block of Alameda just after 9 p.m. Sunday.Deputies headed to a home on Borrego Street where they reportedly found the suspects and the gun used in the crime.Formal charges haven't been filed and sheriff's deputies are not releasing details on what was taken from the store.

So this past weekend I was hanging out with a couple of very good old friends of mine, Chris & Jarrod. We were catching up on old times and talking about movies, music, etc. The same stuff we used to do almost 10 years ago. Well the whole Cloverfield epidemic came up. Jarrod is looking forward to the movie, while I am a bit sceptical. I just think there is no way anyone can do a "giant monster terrorizes big city" movie and it not look like a direct rip off of Godzilla. I mean there are superhero movies that need to be made people. I think all other types of movies should cease production and for the next 3 years we should get nothing but superhero movies! But hey that's just me, what can I say? I jllovesth comics!

The viral campaign that was used to promote this movie is one of the main draws for Jarrod. It reminds me of the Year Zero promotions that NIN did for that album. I really got into that promo it was all over the place with fake websites and all these stories. I really like these kinds of campaigns that make you feel submerged into a fictional world. This next one is fan art "based on leaked info". I don't know if that true or not but this picture is awesome. They use the statue of Liberty for a size comparison and i think the monster is way too big. If he was as big as the image is suggesting then he could flatten New York within 5 minuets, just by walking around it.


So the marking campaign is great and the movie looks like it could be fun. However there is a side of me that thinks when a movie studio spends this much cash and time on a marketing strategy it is because they are afraid the movie wont make cash. So they want as many in the seat on opening day as possible. The only way to do that is to launch a campaign with very little actual info about the movie and what you do show, make it look like the best thing ever. Its the same old thing, the giant awesome floating head but you are to never mind the man behind the curtain.

The movie opens in ten days on 01/18/08. We will have to wait till then to see if this is worth the hype. For better or worse the marketing was fun to play with.

You are going to have to view this a few times before you can make it out but it clearly is the legs and stomach of the monster or at least a monster. Yes Chris you were right. My New Video Games

So the good folks at Circuit City did me a solid last week and discounted several games for the PSP and the Xbox 360 down to 13 bucks a piece. So what did I get, you may ask. Well I got 2 new games for my 360 and 2 for my PSP.

For the Xbox I picked up Viva Pinata as well as Project Gotham Racing 3. While for the PSP I got Tiger Woods 06 and Mortal Kombat: Unchained. These are some quality games people!! Well I haven't tried Viva Pinata yet (manda made me buy it).

I am not much of a "realistic" racing game kinda guy. I dont play Midnight Club, or Gran Turismo. When it comes to racing give me Wipeout, Mario Kart, or F-Zero. However I found my self seriously enjoying PGR3. I guess you don't get game of the year for nothing (Game Of The Year 05). The controls are simple and the graphics look great even on Non-HD tvs (come on Manda time to upgrade hahahaha). I haven't played much of it but I think i am going to have a lot of fun with this game. I have yet to play Viva Pinata yet but I have heard a little about it and it is supposed to be as addictive as Katamari was. I still play Katamari for at least an hour every week.

The PSP games I bought are great! I hadn't picked up my PSP for quite some time and these 2 titles were enough to bring it out of retirement. If you haven't played a Tiger Woods game then you probably don't think they are much of anything. Trust me though, Tiger Woods games are some of the most relaxing and fun games you will play. To top it off you can probably stop by your nearest used video game store and get a copy of one of them for 5 bucks. Mortal Kombat: Unchained is the portable version of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance but it has 4 extra characters in it. If you are a fan of Deadly Alliance then you should get this. This is the best portable Mortal Kombat game I have ever played, though that's not saying much when you look at the other portable versions of this franchise. I still feel that all of my purchases were great values and encourage others to play these games. Except Viva Pinata, i haven't played it. It better be good Amanda.

Radiohead - Scotch Mist

Its an hour long but it looks to be a making of in rainbows video meets an art film. Definately a must watch for any serious Radiohead fan.

Idiots & Their Wii Injuries

The Wii is a revolutionary gaming machine. It incorporates your movements into the actions portrayed on screen. They have run into several problems brought on my idiots who do not know how to play with caution. The first problem was the straps that kept the Wiimote tethered to your wrist. Several people reported that this straps were breaking and thus launching the Wiimote into televisions, lamps, wall, and other people's faces. Yeah ok blame it on the Wiimote strap as opposed to the fucking idiot that cant use the gifts that evolution (or god not my place to know) gave them. The only way it can fly out of your hand is if you don't maintain your grip on it. When the Wii launched there were tons of "gloves" for the Wiimote that you could have purchased so that even the people with the sweat drenched palms could hang on to them. Then that wasn't enough people were still dropping them or throwing them. To try and make their system as idiot safe as possible they released their own glove that was free for anyone who bought a machine. I don't get this at all. I own a Wii and the only time any of my Wiimotes went flying was when I was running down my stairs with them in my hands and I tripped because I too have idiot moments. Its not hard to keep your grip on a remote control. I mean i know you are waving your hands about but really if human kind has lost the ability to maintain their grip on simple objects then our entire race is doomed. If it were not for our ability to grasp things then we would still all be running around in the jungle or swimming in the sea or where ever it is we come from. What is next a special glove so we don't drop our salt shakers? While I think they are idiots for not being able to pay attention to their surroundings or because they lack the capacity to maintain a closed hand, I do enjoy reading and seeing the aftermath of their idiocity. (No that's not a word but I have been using it for over 10 years and I am not going to stop just because it doesn't exist so :P)

OK so pop lunatic Britney Spears was taken to the hospital last night for some reason or another. I was surfing the net and decided to see what TMZ was talking about when i found out about this. They have pictures of Brittney getting loaded into the ambulance and at different points she runs the gamut of emotions. At one point she is smiling, then what appears to be crying, then she looks confused. She is a mess and i really didn't want to ever blog about that type of bullshit attention whoring that is so prevalent in Hollywood now. However a couple of stories down was about some guy who showed up outside of the hospital to hold a "Candlelight Visual" for her. See people these are the idols of the USA and the people who love them.

A dumb chick who cant even function as a semi normal human being and the absolute idiots who love her. Candlelight Visual?!? Really? Its vigil you fucking idiot!!

Hot Chicks Are Crazy Bitches!!!

The lovely lady above is Kumari Fulbright. She is a second year law student and has held the crowns of Miss Pima County 05 and Miss Desert Sun 06. Now she can add kidnapper and thief to her resume. According to reports, she along with 4 males kidnapped her ex boyfriend tied him up and and robbed him at two different locations. According to the victim the 5 criminals held guns to his face and at one point Kumari begun to bite him and then put a knife in his year saying she was going to kill him. What a crazy bitch!!! She is a law student for crying out loud how did she not know she was going to get caught?!? The victim ended up freeing himself and grabbing her gun as he ran outside yelling for help. Police say the victims wounds match his account of the happenings. As crazy as that all sounds it got better when she was caught and booked. Below is her mug shot, and to me it screams guilty in 5 languages (which is strange as i only know 3). I mean look at the theatrics! I have seen a few mugshots where people are crying and stuff but this mugshot right here is of a woman who is coming to the realization that her life as she knows it is over. Who is going to give this chick a crown now? And her as a lawyer?!?! Dude I would rather represent myself. It just further proves my point that hot women are so much more screwed up than ugly women. Hot chicks ARE crazy bitches!!! Not all just a lot.

Dallas County Has The Most Innocent Inmates In The Whole Country

In most jails you will hear an endless amount of "I Didn't Do It" stories. If you are in Dallas county though then they just might be telling the truth. Yup my home county has the largest amount of inmates who have been released due to DNA evidence. Since 2001 they have overturned 15 convictions. Most recently was a man who served 27 years of his 99 year sentence for a rape that he did not commit. Its not just Dallas county though, our state as a whole has overturned 30 convictions based upon new DNA evidence. Its not really that surprising, i mean this is Texas, but to see the numbers in print just makes me feel sick. I mean imagine if you were minding your own business and then the next minuet you are charged with a crime you didnt commit. How does one come to grips with a failed law system? I mean no system is perfect and I am not saying it should be, i dont even think its possible. However that doesnt mean we cant strive for better. It looks horrible on our state but we are doing something about it. People can see this as "look at those a-holes in Texas. They will lock you up and question it later." yeah but you can also say "Wow they screwed up but at least they let the folks go free." Judges dont have to allow the admittance of evidence after a trial has been finished. Judges dont even have to look at that stuff, but in Texas they are and they are trying to make things right regardless of too little too late. They are still striving to reach justice as opposed to covering up mistakes.

Desert Apes?

While I was searching for a picture of snow in El Paso for my previous post I stumbled across this. It is the section of a web page that deals with Bigfoot sighting in and around the Southwest. Most of the stories are from people in and around El Paso Texas. Some of the accounts are written horribly and are hard to follow but all in all most of them are an interesting read. The most current sighting on the page is from 2004. I dont know if there are Bigfeet in our area, but I really doubt it. I mean really think about it. A giant ape covered in fur wandering around the desert? That mofo would be dead and cooked which would (theoretically) lead to someone sometime in El Paso's long history finding one of these corpses. Unless they work like the government says the Taliban and Al Qaeda do which is they carry their dead away. I don't know. Ghosts? Ok the soul is a funny thing. The Chupacabra, ummmm maybe (it could be a genetically altered dog that was constructed to ensure the population of cattle). But a 8 foot giant fur covered ape living in the desert southwest? Nope sorry I wouldn't even buy that for a dollar.

While this morning it was 30 something degrees out, the weather folks are reporting that we are going to be experiencing highs in the 70's as early as this weekend! Well good thing I bought this expensive hoodie, i got some real use out of it for a month. Ah who am i kidding this hoodie is the bomb I am going to end up wearing it in June too. As of 12:50 p.m. on 01/03/08 the temperature is 48 degrees. By this time tomorrow it is supposed to be in the lower 60's! This is nuts but i enjoy the fall and spring much more than the winter and summer. So I am looking forward to the warm up headed our way. I guess its time i start trying on this seasons speedo.

The Writters Strike

Last night I was watching Scrubs on Comedy Central as I do on the daily before I go to bed. Normally after Scrubs The Daily Show is scheduled to be shown. Since the WGA strike though they have been showing really really outdated episodes. I mean I know its comedy show in the vain of "fake news show" but it does deal with current events and showing a rerun of a "fake" news broadcast is almost as bad as showing a rerun of the real news (Which could be done in El Paso and I doubt people would notice). Well last night Comedy Central decided to not show a Daily Show rerun. Instead we got 2 back to back episodes of Futurama. They showed the first 2 episodes of the series which are hilarious!! I haven't seen them in so long. I had the first season on DVD but some stupid bitch borrowed them then fucked me over and well she kept them. I'm not bitter though i only paid like 50 bucks for it on the day it came out. So yeah it was really awesome to see that the great evil corporations are pulling out quality tv from the past. I do feel the WGA is 100% justified in their demands, but them not having a job afforded me to see episodes of a show that i really enjoy.

The stations are going to start pulling out all the stops to try to keep all their viewers. Its almost like its a viewers market right now. The networks are so scared of losing money that I think it is high time we (the viewers) start making demands of our own. We can have back all the shows they took from us. ER could be replaced by Charles In Charge, Grey's Anatomy could be replaced by anything just keep that show far from me. Ok so of course that wouldnt work but it would be nice to think that the people of the USA still have some power over things here in this country instead of being the preprogrammed consumer sheep that we have been turned into.

So the writter strike (as i understand it) is about them not getting a cut of the internet revenue generated by their content as well as a cut of the DVD revenue. It sounds fair. I think they should get that cash. Anytime that anything they created gets bought or sold they deserve to get a cut after all it is their work. But i do have to feel a little like it is 2 giants fighting over how they are going to share the bones of the people they just crushed, when the "industry" releases these bullshit 2.5 dvds. I have been screwed at least 2 on this bullshit. On the day that Spider Man 2 came out and the day Jackass 2 came out, I went bright and early to the store and bought them. Now months later there is a Jackass 2.5 with special features that were not on my Jackass 2 dvd. What the fuck is that bullshit? So the faithful fans who went and did as they were told and bought the dvd on the first day will now have to shell out extra cash to buy a new version of the film? That is bullshit. So on that point i dont give a fuck who gets my cash all involved with little scams like that are assholes in my book.

I am on the WGA's side though. If i am going to get drained of my hard earned cash at least give it to someone who wrote the stuff instead of some guy who just sits behind a desk signing his name on papers. Many people have countered that argument with the fact that the fry cook at Mc Donalds doesn't get a cut on all the fries they sell, or the guy in my position who works in an office for a set rate regardless of how much money the corporation makes off of my work. Yeah thats a true and fair argument however we are not dealing with intelectual property in those cases. The fry cook doesn't grow the potatoes, he doesnt cut them, he doesnt inject them with all the chemicals to make them crunchy. All he does is throw them in grease and then takes them off when a buzzer tells him to. Not much thinking going on there. Where as a writer has to grow and idea from a little notion that strikes them. They then must tend to that idea and grow it into something bigger. Then prepare it to be read and recorded. So they create this thing then develop it and see it all the way through till its final stage. It is their idea, its their voice and they are getting it stolen from them. Now as for the office worker who makes millions for his company but never really sees it **COUGH COUGH**. I cant speak for everyone but in my case I don't invent anything. I guess my job is more of a maintainence position. They tell me what to do and how to do it. I should get a flat rate because it is the company that devised this plan of many "maintence" people working on stuff that generates a profit. Now if i had a great idea and they took it and made cash off of it and I didn't see a dime I would be pissed.

It doesn't look like the strike is anywhere near being over. Neither side is going to back down. The big corporations feel like they can survive without them and that simply isn't the case. Eventually people are going to get tired of The Honeymooners reruns. People are not going to care if Urkle did that or not. The people are going to want something fresh. While they do have decades upon decades of reruns they can show i doubt that the american public is going to sit through decades upon decades of reruns regardless of what the TV on DVD sales state. Oh wait do you mean to tell me alot of people buy TV on DVD? Well then i guess you do make money off of it huh? Yeah the one of the corporations claims was that they weren't even sure if they made money on the dvd's and internet.

So everyone is talking about how the late night shows came back sans writers, with the exception of David Letterman. David Letterman was able to negotiate with the WGA because he owns the production company for his shows (world wide pants). Jay Leno, Connan O'Brien, and Jimmy Kimmel had to fly solo. You would figure that i watched some of this shows last night but nope. I dont care about the late night talk shows. David Letterman is my dads favorite and his show is good. Connan O'Brien is hilarious but his show is just on too late for me (I get up at 5am daily). Throughout the strike these host stood by the WGA members, well all but one. Jay Leno is the devil hahahaha. Ok so maybe he isn't but sure could have fooled his writers. When the strike happened the hosts were paying the writers salary and doing their best to help them out. Jay said he would do the same and help out. What his writers got instead was a holiday bonus of $100 bucks and their walking papers. What a douche.

While i hope the writers get what they are asking for I cant help but think about how pointless this whole thing is to me anyway. I am just an average dude who watches TV like they tell me to, i buy what they tell me to, i eat where they tell me to. We have a war to pay attention to, we have environmental issues that we can focus on, we have social issues we can focus on. I have my own problems why should I care so much about the future of the entertainment industry. It is unfair what is happening to the writers but its like getting involved in organized crime and looking for fair play. So what is my idea to solve this mess? Throw away your TV and search for that spark we lost so long ago that made us human.

I don't remember what i was looking for but i came across the official Ben Davis myspace page. If you are not familiar with Ben Davis, allow me to fill you in.

Ben Davis clothing was started in 1935 by the grandson of the man who helped to create the first pair of Levi's jeans. It is a line of clothing that has been deeply embraced by the Rap music scene as well as the Chicano scene. It has been worn and referenced by tons of artists like Ice Cube and the Beastie Boys. I remember back when i was in middle school El Paso got hit with Ben Davis fever and all the stores that sold "gangster" apparel were full stocked with clothes that featured the furry little monkey. Alas though as is most things in El Paso the fad faded and now it is slightly harder to find Ben Davis clothes. I think El Paso moved on to the raver scene after that and then went on to the punk rock scene. El Paso sucks like that, a city full of people not doing things for themselves but more to avoid being alienated by all the other douche bags that live here. Texas passes law to ease jail strain, Cops ignore

So Texas, in an attempt to combat overcrowding in its jails, passed a law allowing police officers to write a ticket as opposed to arresting people who are found with marijuana in their possession. Now you cant walk around with a lit joint in your mouth and a pound of that sticky in your hand but if you get pulled over and you are found in possession of under 4 oz. of marijuana you can get a misdemeanor ticket as opposed to being hauled in.

Several prosecuters across the sate think that by turning this action into a ticketable offence as opposed to an offence where you would be taken in an proccessed will make people less fearful of being causght. They feel this law likens this offence to that of double parking. Not to be a smart ass (ok maybe a little) but couldnt double parking (if in the right situation) be life threatening? That is actually a serious offence. I mean if we are going to go through all the possible outcomes for an action and base our punishment on that then every action we take could place us in line for the death penalty. A double parked car could:

1)Block in a surgeon who is needed to perform emergency surgery
2)Make it harder for a emergency vehicle to maneuver around and possibly make them
late for the emergency in which they are rushing to
3)It could lower the visablity of other drivers around it thus causing an accident
4)A person who gets away with double parking could feel like they could get away with
other crimes just as easily and withouth reprocutions.

People Double Parking is a gateway crime and we need to focus more attention on it and the effects of it on our community!!!!

Yeah that sounds ridiculous doesn't it? When was the last time you heard about a guy getting high and then going out on a rampage? Or someone who gets high then robs a bank? Majority of the time pot heads get high and get stuck to the couch. The anti drug advocates make sure to point that out in their ads. One in perticular is where there are 3 guys sitting on the couch and talking about what they are missing out on and finally one gets up and leaves. However we are supposed to be afraid of stoners like they are responsible for some sort of heinous crime. Like they are going to snap one day and just go ape shit. No stoners are lazy people, they just want to get high and chill out.

I am not saying that Marijuana is a safe drug. There is no such thing as a safe drug. Its all about proportions. Car accidents could be caused by a stoner whose attention was caught by a shiny object. A child could get hurt when the irresponsible mother/babysiter/care taker gets high and loses track of them or pays less attention to them. Yeah shit like that happens. There are tons of bad things that could happen, but there are tons of bad possibilities for each and ever action we take. Wheather its as mundane as not checking in our shoes before we put them on, or its something else. There is always the possiblity for catastrophe.

When you talk to someone who is anti-marijuana they will have a list of reasons why it is bad and 9 times out of 10 the list could be used to describe a legal intoxicant: alcohol. Alcohol has been proven to kill us, people kill other people, people kill other living things, peolple drive and crash. Alcohol tears families apart, it takes people from us who we need. It changes the best people to monsters and it is availible at ever corner store. When you try to make that point people rebute it with the fact that a person has to know their own limit. That is the exact same thing for marijuana, just know your limit and dont do anything stupid.

I am not calling for prohibition to be reinstated, far from it. I just would like people to actually pay attention. To take a look at this from another view point. When we have a jail full of potheads will we turn the nurderers loose? Where will we send the rapist when the cell he should be in is currently occupied by a 18 year old who decided to smoke pot? What do we do then? Are we headed to giving people the death penalty just to make sure the turnover rate for our cells matches the rate in which we are sending people to jail?

So Texas felt similarly to how i feel, and they passed the law allowing police officers to ticket people for misdemenor marijuana charges. They hoped it would help out people all around.

1)It saves gas for the police forces with the officers having to go back and forth from the
station to the streets
2)Allow officers to focus their attention on violent crimes (wow what a notion!!!)
3)More street time for officers and less paperwork
4)Less nonviolent offenders taking up room in our overcrowded jails


These all sound like awesome ideas and for these ideas to come from a republican state like Texas is just awe inspiring. I believe i am going to vote to reelect my state reps, if this is the type of thinking that we are going to be getting from them. Our local officials though, they might have to go.

When speaking to the Dallas Morning News, Collin County prosecutor Greg Davis said Tuesday "It may...lead some people to believe that drug use is no more serious than double parking" (hence my double parking freak out above)

Dallas county officals cite the fact that with tickets there are a few problems that arise. One being that the dont have any way to make sure for certain that these people are going to show up in court. That is so fucked up. We trust that the man who was involved in a traffic accident will show up for court. We dont second guess if the jaywalker is going to show. We just give people tickets and tell them where and when. We even have a system set up for people who dont show up. See a judge will issue a little thing called a warrant (maybe you have heard of it). We cant treat nonviolent offenders as if they are violent dangers to society. That will only breed violent criminals.

One county in Texas is taking advantage of this new law and their city is still standing! I know its shocking but this county is actually seeing the results of this law and they arent running into any large problems.

Travis County Sheriffs Spokesperson Roger Wade had this to say: "We are still hard on crime, we believe if we can save resources and have the same effect on crime, then we should take advantage of this"

I think you can tell how i feel about this law by this post. Now for the million dollar question: Do I partake of the herb? That is apart of the problem though we shouldnt see people as pot heads and not pot heads or see them by their religion, or skin tone. We should rate each person by their ideas and actions not by their hobbies. If a person was feeding hungry children or homeless people and when reaching in their pocket for some change to pass on a joint falls out, will we jail them?

17 1/2 hours

17 1/2 hours was the amount of time it took for the first homicide to take place in El Paso in 2008. The details are still a bit hazy due to the fact that it just recently happened and because our small town police force and small town news force are horrible at getting information out to the general public in a timely manner. The basics of the story are this: A Hispanic man was attempting to cross from El Paso to Mexico. Something happened and the man ended up stabbing a border guard several times in plain view of everyone. After he stabbed the guard the man then fled towards El Paso but was detained by a border patrol officer minuets later and turned him over to the El Paso police department.

"Fortunately, a border patrol agent in the area was able to find him and detain him for us. So we do have someone in custody." said El Paso police officer Chris Mears

I noticed in the above quote officer Mears states that they have "someone" in custody that statement coupled with the fact the suspect ran out and the border agent had to "find him" leads me to believe that there is a possibility that they chased down the wrong guy. Until more information is made available we wont know. Why is it though that a man can kill a border guard and be able to make it out of the building? How does that happen? In this post 9/11 world we live in we are made to feel like border security is of the up most priority. Yet somehow a man was able to kill on and flee from our border crossing. Police are asking all possible witnesses to call their Crimes Against Persons department at 915-564-7010

I would like to send my condolences to the family of the man who was unjustly taken from them while preforming his duties. To be killed out in the real world due to your own stupidity is one thing but to be killed while just doing you job is something that we rarely think about. However for the men and women whose job it is to make sure we are safe, it is a fact that they must come to grips with everyday while on their commute. While we are complaining about traffic and that annoying guy who wont shut up at work these people are thinking "This could be my last day"

UPDATE: The border guard was a hired security guard. He didnt even work for the city or the federal gov he was just a normal guy trying to make a living in a border town.
